Our surroundigs are full of peace but at the same time,  rich of nature power along with extraordinary landscape. Therefore we can offer great variety of different hikings with difficulty level for everyone.

 

The swimming pool and hot tubs are only located 2.5 km from the hotel. There is also a 9 hole golf course witihin 7 km distance.

 

 

What to see close-by:

Skaftáreldahraun
Lava field from the so called Skaftá Fires or Laki eruption, erupted in 1783-84.

Kirkjugólf
A bizarre expanse of columnar basalt, eroded and shaped by wind and waves. Close to road 203 - you will pass it on your way to us.

Strange formations of columnar basalt, formed by waves when the sea level was higher then today.

Systrastapi
A steep-sided rocky hill west of Klaustur. Foklore says that two nuns were buried up on the rock after being burned at the stake for breaking their vows.

Systrafoss/Systravatn
Systrafoss is Waterfall of river Fossá, that arises from Systravatn. It is possible to hike there. You can start either at the waterfall or close to Kirkjugólf. Up on the mountain the path is marked.

An old turf farmhouse togehter with an ancient chapel - one of very few turf churches remaining in Iceland.
